As of January 1, 2025, the minimum wage in the Netherlands will rise again to €14.06 gross per hour. This translates to a gross monthly salary of €2,437.07 for a 40-hour workweek. With this increase, the Netherlands boasts one of the highest minimum wages in Europe, second only to Luxembourg, where the minimum hourly wage is €15.25. This continued rise in the minimum wage is great news for temporary workers employed through Sagius, offering financial stability and improved living conditions.

The Netherlands Among Europe’s Top
The Netherlands is a leader in Europe when it comes to a fair minimum wage. At €14.06 per hour, it ranks second in the EU, just ahead of Ireland (€13.50) and Germany (€12.82). This high minimum wage reflects not only the strong Dutch economy but also the emphasis on increasing purchasing power. In many other European countries, such as Spain (€9.31) and Poland (€7.08), the minimum wage lags significantly behind.

How the Minimum Wage Has Evolved in the Netherlands
In recent years, the Netherlands has made significant progress in raising and equalizing the minimum wage:

  • 2022: The gross minimum wage was €1,756.20 per month (€10.14 per hour for a 40-hour workweek).
  • 2023: A one-time increase of 10.15% raised the monthly wage to €1,934.40 (€11.16 per hour).
  • 2024: The introduction of a uniform minimum hourly wage brought the rate to €13.27, later indexed to €13.68.
  • 2025: Starting January 1, the minimum hourly wage will be €14.06, with further indexation planned for July.

These increases demonstrate that the Netherlands is not only pursuing economic growth but also striving for equal opportunities for all workers.
